BY ANDREW LIN A look into the world of mental wellness and science fiction. Into the padded cell the patient goes, probably wrapped in a straitjacket and gagged for good measure before being carted around to psychologists, wardens, and therapists inside a huge prison of an asylum, itself most likely done up in miserable and […]
BY SARAH ROSENTHAL Why boredom and cynicism are preferable to drugs. In high school I — a student as enthusiastic about those four years as Daria Morgendorffer — gave tours as a Student Ambassador. I remember one tour when an enthusiastic parent, noticing the AP Art class’s work in the hallway, stated about one particularly […]
BY ADITYA AGRAWAL Who needs the Arts anyway? …Or do we? Four months down, I still shudder every time an American pulls out the all-too-beaten card: How different is America from India? Harvard-tired as I often am, I deflect further probation with a superbly exuberant ‘It is just so different!’ with calculated crumbs of ‘culture […]
BY ADITYA AGRAWAL A trip to the unexpectedly welcoming chaos of The Donkey Show. Saturday nights at Harvard comprise for me — as for many Haardvarks — a volatile mix of party hopping, gregarious revelry, and raucous debauchery. An awful sucker for traditions, I lived up this Saturday night in a similar fashion – except […]

On Friday, October 25th, The Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies in collaboration with the CCK Foundation Inter-University Center for Sinology, Harvard Film Archive, Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, Harvard University, and Taipei Economic and Cultural Office invited Ang Lee and James Schamus […]
BY MADI TAYLOR The process begins – casting a show. It seems that the cast of a show is one of the most important elements in its becoming a popular production. Whether there’s a well-known celebrity playing the lead or a friend in the ensemble, feeling connected to the cast of a show makes us […]
BY ADITYA AGRAWAL Making the case for your beloved dance form. It was in the damp, dark recesses of a Quincy suite that I was truly initiated to the US of A. Strobes flared, beats blared and hips swayed: to music — and to second person pelvic thrusts. Grinding, I was told, represented a fleeting […]
BY ANDREW LIN An exploration of sci-fi planet-spanning behemoth cities and their artistic relation to us. The city of Cambridge, Massachusetts, home to a thriving population of 106,000[2] or so Cantabrigians and our own fair Harvard College, currently stands as a teeming suburb more or less integrated into the fabric of Boston proper. Cambridge, however, […]
An interview with violist Anna Sato. Anna Sato is a sophomore in Quincy House, planning on concentrating in Statistics. Hailing from Stony Brook, New York, Anna has been involved in several music organizations since freshman year, including the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra and the selective Brattle Street Chamber Players. Indy: When did you first start playing music? […]
SAYANTAN DEB A trip to the Boston Athenaeum redefines my outlook on senior year. The first night of my senior year will define my attitude towards my last year in college. Having moved into my senior suite in Adams House’s affectionately named Sky Palace (6th floor, no elevators) – or, as I like to call […]
