Your problem with how James treated the heat makes absolutely no sense. First of all, the Heat did not slash any salaries in order to make way for James to sign a max contract; you can’t slash salaries in basketball unless you trade them away. All of the players either had their contracts expire or voluntarily opted out of their contracts (see Bosh and Wade and Haslem). James even opted out early to give miami the luxury of more time. Secondly, you criticize Lebron for having the Heat sign players in order to try and bring him back. Did you see the Finals? It was beyond obvious the Heat were the worse team and only LeBron was the effective Heat player. Yet, you want Lebron to have made his decision to come back to the heat without at least knowing this team will be better in the future by making any sort of signings to show him proof. That would remove any of his power as a free agent. Also, Miami only made 2 offseason moves before Lebron left (signing Danny Granger and Mcroberts is not huge moves). Plus, you are acting as if James knew long in advance he would leave Miami for Cleveland, which by all reporting, he did not know what he’d do entering the offseason.
